Private Throwing Lessons
ONE SESSION (2 HOURS)
I will take you through how to prepare clay by wedging and balling up, ready for throwing, We will then move on to the potters wheels for a demonstration and I will guide you step by step through the process of throwing a simple cylinder and also a bowl.
After the demonstration you will then have a chance to get your hands dirty, I will be on hand to guide you through each step again whilst you get to grips with the clay.
In a Two Hour session you can expect to make 2-4 items, up to 4 items are included in the workshop price, After the workshop I will trim and fire your pots before they are glazed and fired again. You can choose from 4 glaze colours available.
Your pieces will be ready to collect in about 6-8weeks time, to allow for drying, glazing and firing, you will receive an email from me regarding collections, alternatively if you require postage I can also post your items for a fee. I am only able to keep your work for a maximum of two months after collection emails have been sent due to space restrictions, so please do ensure you get in touch as soon as possible to arrange collections/postage.

POTTERY COURSE (2-3 SESSIONS)
Booking a series of sessions will allow you to experience the whole ceramics process from start to finish, You will learn how to prepare the clay, throw cylinders and bowls, trim your items, add handles and glaze your pieces.
Session 1 - We would cover preparing the clay and then basic throwing skills, completing a few shapes.
Session 2 – We will turn your pots from the previous week, adding handles and tidying up your pieces ready for first firing.
Session 3 – we will get glazing, using both brush on and dipping glazes in a variety of colours, you can experiment with different painting techniques and tidying up your pots before they are ready to go in the kiln. We will also discuss firing temperatures and the science behind glazing!
