THROWING TASTERS

Join me for a two hour throwing masterclass, this workshop is perfect for anyone who is curious about giving wheel throwing a go and you’ll have some beautiful handmade ceramics to show off at the end of it. After a quick demonstration, you’ll get stuck in, I will guide you through the basics starting with center-ing clay, shaping and forming cylinders & bowls. All you will need to bring is yourselves and trimmed nails. I recommend wearing old clothes and shoes that you don’t love as it can get a little messy! (don't worry I have plenty of aprons for you to use) you will usually make 2-4 items on the wheel during a two hour session, 2 items are included in the price of the workshop, but if you wish to keep all of your items you have the option to pay for additional firings at £5.00 per item.

You can choose to have you pots glazed in a food-safe transparent glaze that I will do for you or you can come to a self-directed session to glaze them using colourful brush on glazes, oxides and underglaze. if you choose to glaze them yourself you will need to book a slot on to a ‘handbuilding/glazing self directed session’ 5 weeks after your initial course date to allow enough time for your pots to dry and be bisque fired in a kiln, I will be there to explain how it all works and be on hand if you need a little help.

After the class your items will stay with me for approximately 6-8 weeks, when they have been fully fired and glazed. All information regarding collections and postage can be found here.

Please Note: These sessions are suitable for those aged 14+ for those who are under 18 you must be accompanied by an adult, who is able to sit and watch or join the class with you!

I am only able to keep your work for a maximum of two months after collection emails have been sent due to space restrictions, so please do ensure you get in touch as soon as possible to arrange collections/postage.
